When December rolls around, I always try to\u00a0dedicate\u00a0about three days\u00a0to\u00a0photographing\u00a0white-tailed deer\u00a0at the peak of the\u00a0breeding season.\u00a0 But, this year the time just got away from me and I\u00a0missed the chase.<\/p>\n

Here are a few deer images from January 9,\u00a0just in time to capture the end of the main\u00a0rut.<\/p>\n

Most of these photos were taken from ground level with a Canon 7D Mark II and Canon 70-200 mm lens, hand held.\u00a0 My elbows were on the ground and the stabilizer was\u00a0on setting\u00a0# 2.<\/p>\n

Getting this shot\u00a0requires photographer vigilance and\u00a0having the necessary camera\/lens\u00a0settings\u00a0“dialed in”\u00a0before\u00a0that magic moment occurs.<\/p>\n

These spikes played at “being bucks” for about 5 minutes and without paying any attention to me.<\/p>\n
