<\/a>I really liked this wren shot, but should have been shooting at f8 or f11 to bring the tail into focus.\u00a0 On the other hand, that would have brought more detail into the background and I didn’t want that.\u00a0 Unfortunately, this type of\u00a0pose lasts about 2 seconds, so there is no time to think about “where to focus at f11”\u00a0and still keep the background blurred.\u00a0 The correct focus point for this shot would probably have been about mid-way up the tail.<\/p>\n Interest can be added to\u00a0your photos by placing flowers in the background at strategic locations before photography begins.<\/p>\n The challenge on this bobwhite quail photo was to capture\u00a0water running from its beak.\u00a0 Water streaming out of his mouth added\u00a0interest to the shot.<\/p>\n This is a second look at the location with blooming flowers in the background.<\/p>\n Don’t give up if your bird subject comes in to bathe and is frightened away before you get the shot.\u00a0 It will almost always come back two or three times (as this painted bunting did)\u00a0to finish\u00a0the job.<\/p>\n I hope to keep digging up photos from recent trips that haven’t been shared.\u00a0 That way, we can pass the\u00a0summer days with a reminder of more pleasant weather.\u00a0 I think it’s time to head east for beach shots.<\/p>\n See you later,<\/p>\n Larry<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Hello, everybody.\u00a0 It has been so hot for so long, that I just haven’t been outside much.\u00a0 The last few times out, I tried shooting some short videos which was a lot of fun.\u00a0 The editing of said videos isn’t such a big thrill, however.
