{"id":3938,"date":"2016-12-08T12:50:33","date_gmt":"2016-12-08T18:50:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.larryditto.com\/wordpress\/?p=3938"},"modified":"2016-12-09T18:33:02","modified_gmt":"2016-12-10T00:33:02","slug":"bosque-del-apache-nwr-2016-volume-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.larryditto.com\/wordpress\/2016\/12\/08\/bosque-del-apache-nwr-2016-volume-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Bosque del Apache NWR 2016: volume 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been\u00a0sorting\u00a0about 6000 images from a\u00a03 1\/2 day November Photo Tour\u00a0in central New Mexico at the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge.\u00a0 The refuge was in excellent condition and the weather was cooperative, so we had good luck photographing the landscapes and wildlife of the area.\u00a0 I wanted to show you so many of these that I decided to print them by category.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start with landscapes, since they are colorful and not too numerous.\u00a0 The following are from the Very Large Array (VLA) radio telescopes located about 50 miles west of our base in Socorro, New Mexico.\u00a0 You may remember the VLA if you have\u00a0seen the Jodie Foster movie &#8220;Contact&#8221;.\u00a0 Anyway, the combination of an incredible sunset and the sci-fi nature of our landscape really got us pumped.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Click on a photo and it will enlarge and sharpen for viewing.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3939\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3939\" style=\"width: 320px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.larryditto.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Radio-Telesocpe_51U0423.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[3938]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-3939\" src=\"http:\/\/www.larryditto.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Radio-Telesocpe_51U0423-320x480.jpg\" alt=\"Each of the 27 dishes is 82' across and weighs 100 tons.
